Fun Holiday & Winter Crafts For Young Learners
“Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the wayyy….” Okay, How many more rounds of holiday tunes can you get your class to sing before they get bored. Don’t get me wrong, I love holiday music! In fact, I’m guilty of playing it all year round. But, in all seriousness, what better way to keep your classroom festive than to do fun and easy holiday crafts all while still staying on top of your curriculum.
As a former kindergarten teacher and mother of 5, I’ve had to get creative pretty fast without making too big of a mess to clean up. Let’s just say, that’s why the crafts and resources I create are teacher and kid-friendly. All my crafts are curriculum-focused, fun to do, and easy to clean up.
To help you get some ideas, I’ve put together a variety of crafts and resources that will help your holiday lesson planning a breeze.
Q-tip Painting Craft
By far, Q-tip painting activities are the most popular among preschool, TK, and kindergarten students. These activities are low prep for teachers and almost mess-free for students. Every year, I get an abundant amount of positive feedback on how much students enjoy dot painting and look forward to their next Q-tip painting session. My creative dot-painting activities are beneficial for young learners to help develop their fine-motor skills and focus abilities.
Try the Q-tip Painting Christmas Activity with your students this coming holiday season. All you need is paint and Q-tips along with a printable picture sheet of the many options offered in each of my Q-tip painting products. Some of the Christmas favorites are the star, Christmas tree, candy cane, or elf.
This product includes 16 pages of festive pictures filled with hollow circles and pairs well with relaxing holiday music.
Here’s what Heather recently said about this craft, “I have used this activity with Kindergarten students as well as students in our Autism support program and Functional Life skills programming. An excellent resource to strengthen fine motor skills. Easy clean up with Q-tips and tempera paint. Awesome graphics! Each student's creation turned out wonderful! Students were engaged and enjoyed filling in each dot and exploring color”.

Teaching shapes this winter? Why not make it fun and festive for your young learners?!
These adorable Winter Shape Crafts and Christmas Shape Crafts bundles are perfect for your preschool through first-grade students. Every shape craft focuses on geometry and fine motor skills. Your students will love cutting out the shapes and assembling them together to make a variety of crafts that include a polar bear, reindeer, Christmas tree, snowflake, and many more.
Also, these crafts are perfect for your bulletin board. Just imagine how quickly your classroom or hallway will turn into a winter wonderland.
Donna recently said, “My students love the crafts for math lessons and science lessons. The projects are easy to connect to a story, poem, or song”.

These crafts focus on art, music, the holiday season, and of course, writing. It’s a great activity for kindergarten through second-grade students. This bundle includes a candy cane craft, Christmas Light Craft, Christmas Tree Craft, Santa, Reindeer Craft, Gingerbread Craft, Jingle Bell Craft, and Stocking Craft.
Once your students are done with their craft and write activity, display their work on a bulletin board. This fun, easy, and festive craft makes for the best holiday classroom decoration.
Here’s what Jamie recently loved about this craft, “Great addition to my holiday writing centers”.
Math Crafts
Learning math shouldn’t be boring or intimidating. Why not make it fun and festive for your students with this Make 10, Number, and Pattern Wreath Craft. It’s the perfect craft to assess students on number recognition, patterns, and subitizing numbers within ten.
This activity is great for preschool through first-grade students. A perfect addition to your holiday math lessons!
Here’s what Olivia said about this craft, “These turned out super cute! They were the perfect fun math activity to do before winter break and it was nice to make a craft that wasn’t a Christmas tree! They also learned the valuable skill of cutting out the center of something!
Starting and ending the holiday season with festive crafts is my favorite part of early childhood education. I love watching students get excited about the idea of crafts, but what makes me even more excited is that teachers feel like they have fulfilled their curriculum goals. In the end, learning should be fun, easy, and educational. Wouldn’t you agree?!
